Turkmenistan has registered a lightweight version of the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V”

The Russian vaccine against COVID-19 “Sputnik Light” was registered today by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, having issued a corresponding certificate. This was announced by the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The report notes that “Sputnik Light” is currently registered in more than 15 countries and the drug is in the process of registration in another 30 countries.

According to the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), as noted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, production of the “Sputnik Light” vaccine is planned in more than 10 countries. In particular, in the near future the release of this vaccine should begin in India, China, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, Argentina, Serbia and Turkey.

According to the website of the vaccine, after clinical trials, the effectiveness of “Sputnik Light” was 79.4%.

The “Sputnik Light” vaccine was registered in Russia on May 6, 2021. The drug is an analogue, a lightweight version of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine, which does not require a second dose.

Turkmenistan was the first Central Asian country to register the “Sputnik V” vaccine. On April 29, 2021, the first batch of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine was delivered to Turkmenistan, another batch was delivered to the country at the end of August.

Russian drugs “EpiVacCorona”, “KoviVac” and a number of Chinese ones, including CoronaVac, are also registered in Turkmenistan. In June 2021, the President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree on the purchase of 1.5 million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine.
