Agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan summed up the results of 2021

A final meeting of the heads of the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat, the State Publishing Service reports.

Representatives of the structures of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the State Committee for Water Resources, the State Association "Turkmen Atlary", as well as universities and public associations of the agricultural sector spoke about the strengthening of the pace of reforms being implemented, strengthening the material and technical base of the industry, introducing achievements into production breeding and seed production, digital control systems.

Reports were made on the results of the implementation of presidential reforms and within the framework of the Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2019-2025. The issues of improving the reclamation and ecological state of cultivated lands, saturation of the domestic market with domestic products through scientifically grounded farming, compliance with agricultural activities were touched upon.

As you know, the country has a scheme of fixed areas for strategic crops - wheat, cotton, sugar beet. According to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, 620 thousand hectares are allotted annually for growing cotton in the amount of 1,25 million tons of raw cotton. More than 55 thousand hectares are allocated for sowing potatoes, vegetables and melons. During the meeting of the Government on December 17, a proposal was made to reduce the cotton-growing wedge by 40 thousand hectares and transfer them under potatoes and other vegetables. The production of silkworm cocoons is planned to be increased by 200 tons and to bring the state order level to 2300 tons, the source notes.
