Ashgabat hosts online course on multimedia journalism

A three-day online course on multimedia journalism was organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat for teachers and students of journalism faculties of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, TSU named after Mahtumkuli and the International University for Humanities and Development. This was reported by “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

An international expert from Great Britain was involved to conduct the course, who presented current trends in the field of multimedia technologies. He introduced the participants to online tools and services for creating multimedia content, which are available on the Internet for free.

Issues such as professional ethics in multimedia journalism, content management in social networks, communication and multimedia tools, principles of mobile journalism were also raised.

John McGregor, Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, noted:

“With the unique opportunities offered by the Internet, today's journalists must be able to use new technologies and multimedia skills in addition to the good analytical skills needed to quickly capture the essence of events. Today's students are the future of journalism in Turkmenistan, and we firmly believe that this training course will contribute to their professional development in accordance with the requirements of the modern media environment.”
