The General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakyev made a welcoming speech at the International Conference “Turkmentel-2021” which opened today in Ashgabat.

Noting that the foreign and domestic policies of the head of state are aimed at intensive integration of independent Turkmenistan into the highly developed world community, equal and mutually beneficial cooperation, he said that the country attaches particular importance to the development of the information transport network.

“With the commissioning of the Trans-Asian-European fiber-optic cable communication, it has become real to solve the issues of “digitalization” of the telecommunications network within the country as well. The use of a fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) can significantly increase the network bandwidth, expand the list of services provided. In recent years, we have designed and commissioned fiber-optic communication lines between all etraps and villages, the main trunk lines were backed up, and also looped in many sections,” he said.

He also reported on the following achieved results.

Today the telecommunication company “Turkmentelecom” has six international joints based on DWDM equipment with a capacity of each channel of 100Gb / s for the passage of international transit and local flows.

The telecommunication company “Turkmentelecom” and the Afghan communications operator “Afghan Wireless” have launched lines on the second international junction in two directions with the possibility of extending to Pakistan and India. A new line has also been laid on the Dashoguz (Turkmenistan) - Gurlen (Uzbekistan) sections for network redundancy, where new equipment has been installed to pass transit flows to neighboring states.

Work is underway on the construction of fiber-optic communication lines by the telecommunication company “Turkmentelecom” and the Joint Stock Company “Jusan Mobile” on the section Karabogaz (Turkmenistan) - Temir Baba (Kazakhstan) along the second international junction in the direction with the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"Currently, we are working on the implementation of a number of projects financed by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), said Chakyev.

The projects envisage

  • installation of new 329 FM transmitters with the ability to cover the entire territory of the country, modernization of the backbone transport network with an increase in throughput between regional centers up to 100 Gb/s;
