Turkmenistan and Russia held the 8th Economic Forum to expand cooperation

The issues of expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia were discussed today at the joint economic forum via video communication, the “Vatan” news program of the Turkmen television reported.

Russia was represented at the forum by heads and representatives of a number of ministries, government agencies and organizations, banking and financial structures, chambers of commerce and industry of the regions, as well as large companies specializing in trade, industry, textile production, construction, electronic information technology, mechanical engineering, logistics and in a number of other industries.

From the Turkmen side, heads and specialists of sectoral ministries and departments, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, enterprises and companies producing import-substituting and export-oriented products took part in the business meeting.

During the business forum, representatives of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan discussed the development of bilateral partnerships in industry and production of building materials, textiles, agriculture, as well as in the areas of logistics, tourism, digital technologies, joint investment and production projects. The parties paid special attention to the issues of increasing the volume of bilateral trade.

As a result of the VIII Turkmen-Russian Economic Forum, a number of documents were reportedly signed.

Note that Russia is one of the main economic partners of Turkmenistan. As it was stated during a telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, there is an increase in trade between the two countries. In eight months of 2021, bilateral trade grew by 12.5% compared to the same period in 2020. The total volume of bilateral trade during this period amounted to 1 billion 86 million US dollars.
