Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia exceeded $ 1 billion and surpassed the indicators of 2020

The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation in January-August 2021 exceeded one billion US dollars. This was stated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov today during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

“According to Turkmen statistics, for 8 months of 2021, bilateral trade increased by 12.5% compared to the same period in 2020. The total amount of bilateral trade for this period reached 1 billion 86 million USD” Berdimuhamedov said.

The head of Turkmenistan stressed that the trade and economic sphere is a significant area of the Turkmen-Russian partnership, and noted the growth of bilateral trade.

Berdimuhamedov noted that the Russian-Turkmen partnership is successfully developing in the sectors of gas chemistry, automobile industry, shipbuilding, aviation transport, etc.

The data of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation also show a positive trend. According to data, Turkmenistan is in the top ten countries that increased trade turnover with Russia last year.

Thus, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation increased by 39.6% and amounted to $970.1 million in 2020. In 2019, the volume of bilateral trade between Russia and Turkmenistan was $695 million.
