Today, a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiev took part in the third meeting of the consultations on Afghanistan in the Moscow format, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.
The meeting was attended by representatives of more than ten countries, including a delegation from the Afghan government.
The main topics of the meeting were the military-political situation after the change of power in Afghanistan, humanitarian assistance and the formation of an inclusive government.
Hajiev noted that Turkmenistan, as a neighboring state, is deeply interested in the political stability and security of Afghanistan, the well-being and unity of the Afghan people, the resolution of conflicts by peaceful, political and diplomatic means.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan declared the expediency of intensifying bilateral and multilateral contacts with the Afghan side for discussion, exchange of views and, ultimately, urgent solutions to pressing issues of interaction.
The Moscow format was created in 2017 on the basis of a six-party consultation mechanism of the special envoys of Russia, Afghanistan, India, Iran, China and Pakistan. Its first meeting was held on April 14, 2017 with the participation of deputy ministers and special representatives of 11 countries: Russia, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The main goal of the format is to facilitate the advancement of the process of national reconciliation in Afghanistan and the early establishment of peace in this country.
