President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon will pay an official visit to Turkmenistan on August 4-6, 2021, on the final day of which he will take part in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. Reported by the agency Sputnik.
The summit in Turkmenistan will be the third meeting of the presidents of the Central Asian countries. It was originally planned to be held in Kyrgyzstan last year, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed to 2021. On October 8, 2020, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to hold a Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in 2021 in Turkmenistan.
The first summit of the heads of state of Central Asia was held in 2018 in Nur-Sultan, and the second in 2019 in Tashkent.
We remind you that on April 28 and June 29, 2021, telephone conversations were held between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The leaders of the two countries exchanged views on the current situation and prospects of relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, expressed their interest in enriching their content with new practical initiatives.
