Berdimuhamedov proposed holding a consultative meeting of the heads of Central Asian States in 2021 in Ashgabat

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed holding a consultative meeting of the heads of Central Asian States in 2021 in Ashgabat during a telephone conversation with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

If this proposal is approved, Turkmenistan is ready to start the corresponding approval procedure on the above-mentioned issue. As for the date and agenda of the upcoming summit, it is proposed to coordinate them through the foreign ministries of the countries of the region, the State news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The first consultative meeting of the heads of Central Asian States was held in March 2018 in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), and the second – on November 29, 2019 in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

The agenda of the summit includes issues of expanding regional cooperation in political, trade and economic, investment, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian and other areas, as well as an exchange of views on topical aspects of international issues and regional security.
