Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Russia signed a Memorandum

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation on biological safety issues was signed today following talks in Moscow by Foreign Ministers Rashid Meredov and Sergey Lavrov. This was reported by the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Vice-premier, Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber and member of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the political and diplomatic line, in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.

The Foreign Ministers exchanged views on the Caspian issues, including preparations for the 6th Caspian Summit, scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan, and discussed in this regard security issues, including environmental.

The parties also considered in detail the possibilities of expanding bilateral contacts in the field of science, medicine and education.

Earlier, we reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov promised to provide support to students from Turkmenistan studying at Russian universities.
