Today, the Law “On Amendments to the Code of Turkmenistan on Social Protection of the Population”, approved on October 19, 2012, came into force.

According to the new revision, a person with a disability is defined as a person with persistent physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments that, when interacting with various barriers, may interfere with his full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.

An amendment has been made to Article 30 on length of service stating that the term of service of servicemen is understood as the term of service in the military and internal affairs bodies. In the previous version, only the term of military service was understood.

The same addition concerns Article 31 on the calculation of the term of military service: in part 5, the words “military service” shall be replaced by the words “service in military bodies and internal affairs bodies”; in part 1: in the first paragraph, after the word “service”, add the words “and service in the internal affairs bodies”.

Article 150 is supplemented with a definition of responsibility and is stated as follows: “3. Creation of conditions for persons with disabilities to store vehicles and their special vehicles near their place of residence is carried out by local executive authorities.”
