The President of Turkmenistan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan

Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in our country on a working visit, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

The Minister conveyed the greetings from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the high-level visits.

The head of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan stressed that the constructive interstate dialogue is based on the trusting relations of the heads of the two states, which have a political will to intensify multilateral cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment and cultural, transport and communications. Interaction within international and regional organizations is supported.

Particular attention was paid to the prospects for the development of multilateral cooperation in Central Asia, the implementation of infrastructure and transport and communication projects to enter new regional markets.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

It should be noted that in 2020 the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan grew by 8.6 percent.

In this context, a positive assessment was made of the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in the implementation of agreements reached at various levels, as well as the Business Council of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The interlocutors emphasized the importance of implementing joint large-scale infrastructure projects in the transport and communications sector, and above all, in the formation of a new transit corridor, the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
