The news program of the “Mir 24” TV channel devoted its story to the topic raised by the President of Turkmenistan, about the benefits of licorice root in the fight against coronavirus. To further clarify this issue, interviews were taken with specialists and leaders of our country, whose work is closely related to the cultivation of this plant and the study of its medicinal qualities.
Correspondent of the TV channel “Mir 24” Dmitry Barbash noted that the healing properties of this plant have been known for hundreds of years. It treats asthma, allergies, and helps fight viruses.
Turkmenistan is one of the world's main exporters of licorice. The head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to use the beneficial properties of this valuable plant at a government meeting.
Licorice is often compared to ginseng. It is also called brawler or Turkmen licorice. In terms of quality and consumer properties, this is one of the best plants in the world.
Director of the “Buyan” agro-industrial complex of the “Turkmendermansenagat” association of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Meret Bayramov:
“Licorice root is used as a medicinal raw material in all countries of the world. Licorice root contains glucose, sucrose, pectin substances, glycyrrhizin. There are four types of licorice in Turkmenistan. Naked licorice is of the greatest practical interest. "
On the basis of the root, drugs are made for allergies, colds, bronchial asthma, eczema, as well as antiviral drugs.
Batyr Danatarov, Head of the Laboratory of Technology for the Production of Medicines at the ANT Technology Center:
“Licorice is a part of more than 350 medicines. At the Technology Center we have experiments in obtaining bioactive substances and in creating phytosomal medicines”. The agro-industrial complex is the only one in Turkmenistan where licorice is processed. It has the most modern equipment. Products go to the domestic market and are exported to dozens of countries in Europe and Asia. As the heads of the enterprise emphasize, their products meet the highest international quality standards. Teas, extracts, balms, capsules with useful substances are made from licorice root.
Director of the Information Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Ogulmyahri Geldieva:
“Scientists have identified the activity of glycyrrhizic acid against viruses, bacteria and especially against coronavirus infection. Our esteemed President noted the need to expand the national pharmaceutical industry, create an enterprise for the production of this acid, expand international cooperation”.
