Turkmenistan expressed its condolences over the death of an Iranian scientist

Today, foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ghulam Abbas Arbab Hales at the Ministry of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the foreign Minister of Turkmenistan conveyed to the Iranian Ambassador a letter of condolence addressed to the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic in connection with the death of an Iranian scientist, head of the Organization for research and innovation under the Ministry of defense of Iran Mohsen Fakhrizade as a result of an assassination attempt.

The message, in particular, States that Turkmenistan strongly condemns this crime and, based on the basic principles of the UN Charter, emphasizes that any manifestations of violence, especially those that lead to human victims, are gross violations of national and international law, violation of high humanistic values, the Turkmen foreign Ministry reports.

According to foreign media reports, Mohsen Fakhrizade was killed in an assassination attempt in Tehran province on November 27. He was seriously injured and died in hospital. The murdered scientist also served as Deputy head of the military Department.

According to the Fars news Agency, he was shot from a distance of 150 meters from a remote-controlled weapon installed in a Nissan car. Except for Fakhrizade and his bodyguards, there was no one at the scene of the attempt.

The Al-Alam TV channel reported that the weapons were pointed from a satellite.
