President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of the people and Government of Turkmenistan, as well as on his own behalf, sent sincere congratulations to Mr. Joseph Biden on the occasion of his election as President of the United States of America, the “Watan” news program of the Turkmen television reported.
In his message, the head of state noted that Turkmenistan highly appreciates the current level of relations with the United States of America and attaches great importance to the further development of bilateral cooperation based on the traditional principles of equality, mutual respect and protection of mutual interests.
"I firmly believe that friendship, mutual understanding and interested partnership relations between Turkmenistan and the United States of America will continue to strengthen for the benefit of the peoples of both countries," Berdimuhamedov said.
Taking this opportunity, the President of Turkmenistan addressed heartfelt wishes to Mr. Joseph Biden for good health, happiness and great success in the highest state office for the sake of further progress and prosperity of the United States.
Joseph Biden's political career began in 1972, when he was elected to the U.S. Senate from Delaware. In 1988 and 2008, he twice fought for the post of head of state, but each time unsuccessfully. And in November 2020, Biden won the election at the age of 77, becoming the oldest President in US history at the time of election.
