Tatarstan plans to start exporting barley to Turkmenistan, reports tatar-unform.ru, referring to the General Director of the agro-industrial center for investment and innovation of the Republic of Tatarstan Denis Samodurov.
According to him, Tatarstan plans to increase the volume of barley exports to $50 million by 2024.
"It was decided to pay attention to barley, because Tatarstan produces more of it than it consumes: it produces about 1.5 million tons and at the same time consumes about 500 thousand tons. We can export about 1 million tons of barley. Currently, we have increased the export of barley to Iran from 50 thousand tons to 100-120 thousand tons," said General Director RATSIN.
It is also planned to supply grain to Azerbaijan.
The head of the center noted that it is also planned to increase the export of rapeseed, flax and mustard. For this purpose, a program has been developed to support agricultural producers.
"We have increased funding for rapeseed – we provide fuel, fertilizers, and seeds. In other words, here RATSIN ships products worth 10 billion rubles annually. And launched a program to support the production of flax and mustard. This year, we exported about a thousand tons, because the production volume is very small. We set a task to increase the export of flax and mustard to 5 thousand tons for each product," Samodurov said.
