Turkmenistan is working to strengthen sanitary standards for transit traffic, the official website of the state customs service of Turkmenistan reports.

From the first days of the beginning of the spread of coronavirus infection in the world, the coordinated work of the customs services involved in customs operations to prevent the introduction of this infection into the territory of Turkmenistan was organized on a systematic basis at border checkpoints. First of all, the movement of goods and vehicles through border checkpoints was regulated. In this regard, all customs operations are carried out smoothly with the work of the relevant departments and with strict compliance with the requirements of sanitary standards.

A number of measures were taken at all State checkpoints to strengthen sanitary-epidemiological and phyto sanitary control and veterinary supervision. The necessary medical equipment and medicines were also purchased. In addition, disinfection terminals were built in the shortest possible time at road and railway checkpoints, in the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

Full disinfection of vehicles, trailers, railway wagons and containers arriving in Turkmenistan is currently being carried out. Efforts were also made to implement coordinated prevention and quarantine operations at border crossings of neighboring States.

"The state customs service of Turkmenistan is doing everything possible to ensure that the route through Turkmenistan remains attractive and convenient for cargo passage even in such difficult conditions caused by the pandemic," the official website of the GTST says.
