Today, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a telephone conversation with the Parliamentary under-Secretary of state for foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom, Minister for European neighborhood and American Affairs of the United Kingdom, Mrs. Wendy Morton.
During the conversation, issues of trade and economic cooperation were discussed, where the role of the Turkmen-British trade and industry Council (TUKTIC) was particularly emphasized. 7 TUKTIC meetings were held, during which issues of trade and economic cooperation in various sectors of the economy were considered, as well as opportunities to strengthen business cooperation.
They discussed the possibility of further expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection. The parties stressed the importance of continuing international cooperation within the framework of existing global mechanisms to combat climate change. In this regard, the parties noted the importance of holding UN Conferences on climate change, including the upcoming COP-26.
The diplomats also noted the importance of coordinating efforts in the fight against the spread of a new coronavirus infection, including the use of scientific diplomacy mechanisms, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
