Olympic qualification in 3x3 basketball with the participation of the national team of Turkmenistan was moved to Austria

The Olympic 3x3 basketball qualifying tournament will be held in Graz, Austria, from May 26 to 30, 2021, according to the official FIBA website. The competition was scheduled to take place in Bangalore, India, in April 2020, but was postponed.

Recall that for the first time in the history of the development of the national basketball school, Turkmen basketball players were able to get into the number of Olympians in this sport.

In the Olympic qualifying tournament, the women's national team of Turkmenistan will play in group "B" with the teams of Iran, Japan, Ukraine and Australia. After the end of the group stage, the two best teams from the four quartets will continue to fight for three places to the Olympics in Tokyo. The remaining two tickets (one for both men and women) will be played at the final qualifying tournament in Budapest (exact dates are being specified). For women, the top four countries in the Ranking-Russia, China, Mongolia and Romania – automatically participated in the 2021 Olympic games.

Recall that in 3x3 basketball, the team consists of 4 players. Each match lasts either 10 minutes of pure time, or until one of the opponents scores 21 points. The 3x3 basketball world Championships have been held since 2012. And at the 2021 Olympics, 8 of the best men's and women's teams will perform. 3x3 basketball will be presented in the program of the Olympic games for the first time.
