Turkmenistan and China held inter-Ministerial consultations

A wide range of issues related to the development of partnership on a bilateral and multilateral basis, in particular, through international organizations, were discussed during the Turkmen-Chinese inter-Ministry consultations held in the format of a videoconference.

The Turkmen delegation at the talks was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hadjiev, and the Chinese delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Yucheng.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of traditional cooperation, highlighting the economy, trade, oil and gas, telecommunications, healthcare, science, education and culture as priority areas.

Taking into account the mutual interest in steadily increasing the mutually beneficial partnership and its huge potential, the diplomats stressed the special importance of activating contacts, and also considered the possibility of holding a regular meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese cooperation Committee in the near future.

Touching on topical issues of the regional and international agenda, the participants of the meeting paid special attention to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. In this context, the importance and timeliness of the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to fully utilize the potential of scientific diplomacy in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 on a planetary scale was emphasized, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
