President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pardoned 126 Afghan prisoners who were handed over today to the proper officials of this neighboring country on the Northern border of Afghanistan in Akina and Turgundi, the online newspaper Kabul Now reported.
The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Afghanistan highly appreciated this humane act on the part of Turkmenistan, as well as the cooperation with its country, the report says.
126 Afghan prisoners serving various sentences in Turkmenistan were released, among 210 foreign citizens who were pardoned by the decree of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of Gadyr gijesi (Night of Omnipotence), which is celebrated on the 27th day of Muslim fasting.
