Berdimuhamedov suggested that Putin jointly fight against the pandemic

Today, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation.

After warmly greeting each other, the two heads of state noted with satisfaction the invariably friendly nature of the Turkmen-Russian relations, which are built on the principles of mutual respect, constructiveness and strategic partnership, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

During the conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin cordially congratulated each other on the 75th anniversary of Victory in the great Patriotic war, and addressed wishes of well-being and prosperity to the peoples of both countries. It was emphasized that this day will forever remain for the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia a symbol of unbreakable brotherhood, unity and the highest self – sacrifice in the name of a common sacred goal-the liberation of humanity from Nazism.

As the Turkmen leader said, on may 9, our country solemnly celebrated this anniversary, paying tribute to the memory of the valor and courage of those who did not return from the war, veterans, home front workers. It is significant that the delegation of the Russian Federation, headed by the Deputy Minister of defense of Russia, Colonel-General Alexander Fomin, took part in the festive celebrations.

In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked his Russian counterpart for sending a high-level delegation to Turkmenistan, as well as for the decision to transfer the Battle banner of the 748th rifle regiment of the 206th rifle division of the 2nd Ukrainian front, where his grandfather, Berdimuhamed Annayev, fought, to the Turkmen side for eternal storage.

The Turkmen people highly appreciated this gesture, the President said. The transfer of the Battle flag in our country is perceived as a sign of deep respect for the Turkmen soldiers who fought alongside representatives of other Nations against the enemy and made a worthy contribution to the common Victory, as well as as a manifestation of consistently friendly Turkmen-Russian relations.

The head of Turkmenistan expressed belief that martial courage and heroism on the battlefields during the great Patriotic war and our ancestors, will always serve as an example of devotion to duty and love of country, and after overcoming the current difficulties caused by the known circumstances, Moscow will host a large celebration in honor of the overall Victory.

During the telephone conversation, the sides also exchanged views on a number of topical aspects of the regional and global agenda of mutual interest. In this context, the topic of fighting the coronavirus pandemic, which has become a serious test for the entire world community, was raised. At the same time, it was emphasized that since the first days of the coronavirus outbreak, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation have been actively cooperating, showing solidarity and mutual support.

Taking this opportunity, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the prompt dispatch of a significant number of test systems to our country, which has become a significant help to the domestic medical services. In turn, Turkmenistan is also ready to provide the Russian Federation with all necessary support.

In continuation of the topic, it was noted that the legal framework for close cooperation in this area is currently being worked out between the relevant departments of the two countries, including the preparation of relevant documents on cooperation in such areas as the fight against infectious diseases and the introduction of international health regulations.

This is a clear confirmation of the solidarity of our doctors, as well as an effective contribution to the consolidation of efforts in the fight against dangerous infections and, in General, to the strengthening of effective partnership in the field of healthcare in the CIS format.

In this regard, the head of state expressed the expediency of instructing the relevant state structures of Turkmenistan and Russia to develop a joint comprehensive program to counter the pandemic, which would reflect the experience accumulated by both countries, as well as the forms and models of subsequent cooperation.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin also discussed priority issues of interstate trade and economic partnership, which occupies an important place in the agenda of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue. Here, a significant role is assigned to the joint intergovernmental Commission, whose activities are designed to contribute to the practical implementation of the existing impressive potential for cooperation, agreements reached and plans for the future.

The progressive dynamics is inherent in the established close contacts between Turkmenistan and the largest regions and subjects of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the establishment of a ferry service on the Caspian Sea between the port of Turkmenbashi and the Russian ports of Astrakhan and Makhachkala was noted.

At the end of the conversation, confirming their mutual readiness for multi-faceted cooperation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin exchanged best wishes for each other, as well as veterans and fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
