A round table discussion on the draft country program of cooperation between the government of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Program for 2021-2025 was held today in the building of the UN Office in Ashgabat.
The country Program is intended to be another important step towards strengthening and expanding long-term partnerships. Its implementation will contribute to effective interaction between our country and the UNDP to achieve the goals of sustainable development, continue fruitful cooperation in various areas, including the socio-economic sphere, the humanitarian field and others.
UNDP representatives expressed their gratitude to the Turkmen side for the systematic work carried out to prepare documents for further partnership and stressed the serious and responsible approach of Turkmenistan to integrating the SDG into national programs.
As noted, the new country Program reflects the essence and content of the SDG. Turkmenistan was one of the first countries to adopt at the national level all 17 sustainable development goals set out in the global Agenda for the period up to 2030. Their implementation is among the priorities of the state policy initiated and consistently implemented by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
As you know, in July 2019, at The United Nations headquarters, within the framework of the ECOSOC Political forum, Turkmenistan presented the first Voluntary national review of the implementation of the SDG, which was highly evaluated by the UN.
After exchanging views on the key directions of the Country Program for 2021-2025 and approaches to its practical implementation, the participants of the meeting confirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan and UNDP to a constructive partnership.
