Turkmen specialists discussed a number of key issues with the Director General of the world organization for animal health

The meeting was held in the format of a videoconference with the participation of Monique Elua, Director General of the world organization for animal health, and the heads of the Ministry of foreign Affairs, the Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection of Turkmenistan, the state Association "Turkmen atlary" ("Turkmen horses"), and the Turkmen agricultural University.

The issues of exchanging scientific information, improving the legal framework and rational use of the veterinary service's resources have become key issues in the discussions, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

As noted, Turkmenistan is carrying out comprehensive work to preserve its original and unique nature. In this regard, special emphasis was placed on the formation of the genetic Fund of the animal world.

Today in our country, under the personal patronage of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, large-scale activities have been launched to revive national horse-breeding traditions, conduct selection and breeding work to improve the breed characteristics and gene pool of Akhal-Teke horses. To this end, the material and technical base of the industry is being steadily strengthened, and international cooperation with relevant agencies of the world and reputable organizations is expanding.

During the meeting, issues of implementation of the Agreement between the government of Turkmenistan and the world organization for animal health on cooperation in creating a zone free from horse disease and providing technical assistance for the development of horse breeding were discussed.

The role of the State veterinary service in protecting the health of agricultural and wild animals, birds, preventing various diseases, improving the quality and ensuring the safety of livestock products was noted. In this regard, attention was paid to the work carried out by the Service's specialists together with experts from the world organization for animal health.
