Turkmenistan discusses development of cooperation in public health

A delegation of representatives from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention visited Turkmenistan on a working visit, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: The Golden Age”.

Led by the Director of the Global Health Program for Central Asia, the delegation held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the Center for Public Health and Nutrition and the State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after M. Garryev.

The first CDC Central Asia Office was opened in 1995 in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and CDC currently has country offices in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working with host governments to strengthen public health emergency management, laboratory capacity, surveillance and workforce capacity to respond to disease outbreaks, the source said.
