Deputy Prime Minister and foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov said that the country does not hide anything about the situation with the coronavirus.

"If there was a single confirmed case of coronavirus, we would immediately report it to the world health organization. We are responsible for the obligations we have assumed as a member of the UN, as a country with permanent Neutrality recognized by the UN 25 years ago. Therefore, we do not hide anything, we are open," Rashid Meredov said at a briefing for foreign diplomats and journalists.

In turn, the Minister of health and medical industry Nurmuhammed Amannepesov said that in three quarantine zones of Turkmenistan, located in the Lebap velayat, Turkmenbashi and Garabogaz, 151 people remain on diagnostics, most of them are truckers and ship crews.

The head of the Ministry of health also said that Turkmenistan has 30,000 diagnostic test kits at its disposal. Another 40,000 will arrive soon from Russia, Turkey and Germany, reports Reuters.

At the briefing, it was also reported that Turkmenistan is completing the construction of facilities for decontamination of transport and cargo at checkpoints with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan and is preparing to open transport links with Iran after the construction of appropriate infrastructure elements in the border zone.

Earlier, Turkmenistan suspended air traffic with foreign countries in order to prevent the penetration of coronavirus.
