Border checkpoints in Turkmenistan will be equipped with disinfection facilities. This is provided for in the Law signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "On making additions and amendments to certain legislative acts of Turkmenistan", which was published in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" and entered into force today.
The document supplements the law "On the state border of Turkmenistan", adopted on May 4, 2013, with article 221 "Enhanced control measures at checkpoints", which States:
"In the event of any circumstances that may cause mass harm to the health of the population, in order to provide for special and more enhanced additional types of control, disinfection barriers for vehicles and structures intended for decontamination are built and equipped at checkpoints – disinfection of motor and railway transport and carried out the relevant work in disinfection, and in accordance with the results of primary tests in the prescribed manner disinfection and fumigation work against insects on imported by all modes of transport under quarantine plants and products made from them."
An outbreak of a new covid-19 coronavirus infection was recorded in late 2019 in Central China, spread to most countries of the world and was recognized by the world health organization as a pandemic. According to official reports, there are no cases of coronavirus in Turkmenistan.
