Today, the derby between the current champion FC Altyn Asyr and the leader of the current championship FC Kopetdag resumed the Turkmenistan Higher League, which was interrupted on March 23. The match took place in the main arena of the multifunctional Ashgabat Stadum and ended in a draw with the score — 1:1.
At the 78th minute of the game, 25-year-old central defender Mekan Saparov put FC Altyn Asyr ahead — 1:0. However, after 9 minutes, FC Kopetdag striker Batyrgylych Berdiyev restored equality. The game ended 1:1.
Around 500 people attended Sunday’s game between FC Altyn Asyr and FC Kopetdag. The crowd size was broadly in line with typical domestic league games in Turkmenistan and, as usual, attendance was free.
After this game, FC Kopetdag with 8 points takes first place in the championship, FC Altyn Asyr is in third place with 5 points, but has a game in reserve.
On April 20, three more matches will be played as part of the 4th round of the Turkmenistan Higher League. The FC Merw will host FC Ashgabat in Bayramaly, FC Nebitchi and FC Energetik will play in Balkanabat, and FC Ahal and FC Shagadam will play among themselves in the main arena of the multifunctional Ashgabat Stadium.
Eight teams are participating in the 28th edition of the Turkmenistan Higher League, the tournament is held in four rounds. The second round is expected to end on June 13th.
The Turkmenistan Youth League resumed yesterday. The youth team FC Altyn Asyr defeated FC Kopetdag — 4:2.
