Railway communication issues were discussed by participants of the Turkmen-Afghan remote meeting

A meeting in the format of a videoconference was held today between representatives of the Agency “Türkmendemirýollary” ("Turkmen Railways"), the Turkmen open joint stock company "Demirýollary" (“Railways”) and the railway Department of the Ministry of transport of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The Turkmen side was headed by the Chairman of the Agency “Türkmendemirýollary” Azat Atamuradov. Mohammad Yamma Shams, Director General of the Afghanistan Railways Authority, led the Afghan side.

During the meeting, a number of issues related to the construction of the Akina-Andhoy railway line and the work being carried out on the Turgundi-Herat railway construction project were discussed.

The participants exchanged views on the optimization of transit cargo traffic and wagons passing through the IRA and the further development of the transport corridor between the countries participating in the “Lapis Lazuli” agreement.

The issues of issuing visas to railway transport workers were also discussed, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
