In order to prevent the importation and spread of coronavirus infection, all aircraft arriving in Turkmenistan from abroad are redirected to the Turkmenabat International Airport. This was reported to Turkmenportal in Turkmenistan Airlines.
Passengers arriving from outside Turkmenistan are given all the necessary tests, in particular, their body temperature is measured. The airport terminal has all the necessary equipment. There is a mechanism for delivering patients to an infectious disease hospital if necessary. The airport medical center is equipped with personal protective equipment. After passing a medical examination, the plane, along with the passengers on board, is fly out to Ashgabat.
As for flights from Turkmenistan to foreign countries, they are still carried out from the Ashgabat International Airport.
According to the Russian representative office of Turkmenistan Airlines, based on the decision of the control Center for the prevention of importation of the causative agent of acute SARS in Turkmenistan, in order to ensure the safety of passengers, decisions were made to cancel the following flights:
- from 14.03.2020 to 29.03.2020 flights T5 537/538 on the route Ashgabat-Delhi-Ashgabat
- from 01.04.2020 to 30.04.2020 flights T5 901/902 on the route Ashgabat-Istanbul-Ashgabat
- from 13.03.2020 to 27.03.2020 flights T5 717/718 on the route Ashgabat-Almaty-Ashgabat
- from 15.03.2020 to 29.03.2020 flights T5 735/736 on the route Ashgabat-Kazan-Ashgabat
- from 21.03.2020 to 28.03.2020 flights T5 731/732 on the route Ashgabat-Saint Petersburg-Ashgabat
Passengers of canceled flights can get a full refund or take off at their own request from the nearest airport on another possible date without additional payments, according to a statement on the website of the Russian representative office of the Turkmenistan Airlines.
Recall that in Turkmenistan, under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization and taking into account national legislation, necessary and timely steps are being taken to prevent the penetration of dangerous infectious diseases into the country. As it was stated at a briefing at the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan at last week, no cases of disease or suspected coronavirus have been recorded in Turkmenistan.
