The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan organized a briefing for Pakistan media representatives at the “Marriott” hotel in Islamabad on January 30, the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reported.

As it was emphasized, this year our country, together with the entire world community, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. In commemoration of this historic date for the fate of independent Turkmenistan and its people, 2020 was declared the Year of "Turkmenistan-homeland of Neutrality".

The participants were informed about the events that will be organized and held during the current year at the international level in honor of this event. Special attention was paid to the importance and relevance of the upcoming high-level International conference "the policy of neutrality and its role in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development", which will be held in December this year. In the context of Turkmenistan's policy of neutrality, the importance of projects jointly implemented by Turkmenistan and Pakistan – the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipeline (TAPI), the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan power line (TAP), and the fiber-optic communication line-was emphasized.

The chief editor of the international magazine "Melange", Ms. Amna Malik, and the Pakistan analyst, Abdul Rahman Bilal, also stated the special significance of the projects being implemented.

A round table organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan was also dedicated to the anniversary date. The event was held on January 31 at the Pakistan center for global and strategic studies. The leaders and representatives of the Center got acquainted in detail with the international events that will be held in our country in various directions in connection with the solemn celebration of the 25th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.

The question-and-answer format discussed issues related to joint projects - the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan–Pakistan electric and fiber–optic communication line (TAP), as well as the positive impact of new transport routes on the socio-economic development of the region. The participants also discussed opportunities for further development of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, including the proposal to hold days of culture of Pakistan in Turkmenistan.
