At a press conference held today at the Archabil hotel, the head coach of the home team, Croatian specialist Ante Misha, shared his expectations of the upcoming qualifying match of the 2022 world Cup between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea on September 10 in Ashgabat.
- Congratulations On your successful start in the qualifying tournament of the 2022 world Cup, in the first game of which the national team of Turkmenistan beat the team of Sri Lanka-2:0. But tomorrow the Turkmen players will have a very serious match with the national team of the Republic of Korea. What can you say about this match?
Thanks! I'm very excited for tomorrow's game because we're playing against one of the best teams in Asia.
– What result do you expect?
– It is very difficult to talk about the result. We want to play well because we play at home, in front of our fans. We have ideas for the match, we will try to put pressure on the opponent and see what happens.
– If the match ends in a draw, will it be a good result for You?
– Certainly. As I said, we will play against one of the best national teams in Asia.
– In history, there have been cases when the team below the rating at the expense of morally strong-willed forces won against a stronger opponent. Tomorrow our guys will be able to give their all in the game?
- Yes, there have been many amazing results in history. We will show all the best. Our team is very motivated before the game against Korea. We have a good team, and we expect a very, very good game tomorrow. We'll see what happens.

– In the match against Sri Lanka, our fans expected a devastating score from the national team of Turkmenistan. But only two goals were scored. Why couldn't we score more?
– For me, the most important thing is that we created a lot of chances at the opponent's goal. We could have scored more, about 5-6 goals. We will try to play even better, including in the next game. Tomorrow will be a difficult game, we will not have as many scoring chances as in the match against Sri Lanka. Maybe there will be 2-3 chances against one of the best teams in Asia. We have to be like "killers": one chance – one goal, two chances – two goals.
- The national team of Turkmenistan has already met with the national team of the Republic of Korea in 2008. Then Arthur Gevorgyan played in the team. Now he is also in our team, however, in the match against Sri Lanka, he came only in the end as a substitute. Do you plan to release him in the starting lineup tomorrow?
– I will decide on the starting line-up tomorrow before the match. All 23 players of the national team of Turkmenistan are ready to play.
– And why in the match against Sri Lanka You have left in stock Yakshieva and Gevorgyan? Were they unprepared or was that the plan?
- Because I'm the head coach. I have choices.
