CIS foreign ministers reconcile their positions at a meeting in Moscow

Today the foreign ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) discussed issues of interaction between the CIS foreign ministries in Moscow today.

According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, the draft agenda of the meeting of the Ministerial Council was formed at a meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth in January and approved by Turkmenistan, the chairman of the CIS in 2019.

The Heads of the foreign affairs agencies paid special attention to the issues of strengthening cooperation in countering the growing threats and challenges to security and stability, as well as expanding the interaction of countries in the economic, cultural-humanitarian and scientific-technical fields.

The meeting participants summed up the implementation of the Plan of multi-level inter-MFA consultations within the CIS in 2018 and approved a similar document for the year 2019.

Following the discussion, a draft statement was approved in connection with the 80th anniversary of the start of World War II, which will be submitted to the Heads of States of the Commonwealth.

In the "humanitarian" block of issues, a draft Agreement on the coordination of interstate relations in the field of basic research of the CIS member states was approved, which will be submitted to the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS.

The Council of Ministers reviewed and supported the draft Agreement on cooperation in the field of museum work, the main purpose of which is to create favorable conditions for the development of a museum and exhibition exchange in the CIS space.

In addition, the ministers reviewed the draft CIS Convention on the transfer of non-custodial sentences, which is designed to regulate relations on the execution of court decisions in the territory of another state in terms of non-custodial sentences and criminal law measures.

The document on prevention of crime committed with the use of information technology was also considered.
