Turkmen tennis players took 4th place in the Junior Davis Cup qualifying tournament

The Turkmenistan junior tennis team took fourth place in the Junior Davis Cup Asia-Oceania U16 preliminary qualifying tournament, which concluded in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This is the team's best result in all its years of participation in the competition, according to the publication "Golden Age."

Turkmenistan competed in the tournament, which featured 15 teams, as the sixth seed. In the group stage, the team confidently won Group B, defeating Oman 3-0 and coming from behind to defeat Myanmar and Singapore 2-1. In the quarterfinals, the Turkmen juniors defeated the Philippines 2-0.

In the semifinals, the team put up a tough fight against the third-seeded Vietnamese team, but lost two tight singles matches 0-2. In the match for third place, the Turkmen tennis players battled the Sri Lankan team, but ultimately lost 1-2.

Ali Geldiyev made a significant contribution to the team's success, winning five of his six singles matches. He had previously won the U14 tournaments in Doha and Nonthaburi. The team also included Kerimgeldi Guldurdiyev and Suleiman Hudaiberdiyev, winners of international competitions in Qatar, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia.

The Malaysian and Vietnamese teams qualified for the final qualifying round. The Malaysian team won the final 2-0.
