Turkmenistan's elections are over: voter turnout exceeds 91%

In Turkmenistan, on March 29 at 19:00, voting concluded to elect members of the Halk Maslahaty of the newly formed etraps, as well as to replace the deputies of the country's Mejlis who had resigned early, members of the velayat, etrap, city Halk Maslahaty and Gengeshes.

According to the Central Election Commission's website, voter turnout was as follows:

  • 91,14% for the elections of members of the People's Councils of the newly formed etraps;

  • 92,26% for the elections of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan;

  • 91,47% for the elections of members of the velayat People's Councils and the city of Ashgabat;

  • 91,06% for the elections of the etrap and city People's Councils;

  • 91,20% of voters for the elections of members of the Gengeshes.

According to information provided by the Central Electoral Commission, the elections were declared valid.
