On March 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a roundtable discussion with representatives of the International Labor Organization (ILO) on developing cooperation in labor, social protection, and sustainable development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, relevant ministries and agencies, international organizations, and social partners participated in the meeting.
Participants discussed priority areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ILO, including improving labor legislation, promoting decent work principles, and implementing joint programs aimed at strengthening social policy.
The results of joint work completed in 2025 and the implementation of joint projects aimed at promoting decent work principles were reviewed. Priority areas for cooperation for 2026 were also discussed.
In her speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to developing cooperation with the ILO and consistently implements state policies aimed at improving social protection, ensuring decent working conditions, and expanding employment opportunities.
It was emphasized that cooperation with the ILO facilitates the implementation of best international practices and the strengthening of the national labor relations system.
