Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atahalliyev and regional governors to discuss the development of the agro-industrial complex and the situation on the ground, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.
Deputy Prime Minister Atahalliyev reported to the head of state on the progress of seasonal agricultural work. According to him, mineral fertilizer application and irrigation of wheat fields in the regions continue.
At the same time, preparations are underway for cotton sowing, including the preparation of high-quality seed material. Measures are also being taken to ensure the organized sowing of spring crops, particularly potatoes and vegetables.
After hearing the report, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the strategic importance of the agricultural sector for the national economy. He emphasized the need for strict adherence to scientifically sound agricultural practices, which are the foundation for high yields, efficient use of land and water resources, and the prevention of soil salinization.
In this regard, the head of state instructed that high-quality soil preparation for cotton planting, including leveling, chilling, and harrowing, be ensured, and that flushing irrigation be carried out in accordance with regulations in the Dashoguz and Lebap velayats. The president demanded that cotton producers be provided with seeds in a timely and complete manner, that equipment be prepared for spring planting, and that winter wheat cultivation be continued, with particular attention to irrigation and fertilization.
Furthermore, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for strict control over the quality and timing of potato and vegetable and melon plantings, particularly in the Dashoguz velayat. He instructed that seed and planting area preparation be monitored, as well as the timeliness of payments between agricultural producers and service organizations.
The meeting also addressed issues of socio-economic development. The President instructed the regions to ensure high-quality celebrations of International Women's Day and to take the necessary measures to effectively implement the objectives outlined for the current year under the National Rural Program and the Socio-Economic Development Program.
