In January 2025, more than 108 thousand workers were laid off in the United States, a 17-year high, according to Bloomberg.
The largest number of layoffs occurred in the transportation industry, with over 31 thousand employees.
Significant layoffs also occurred in the technology sector, where over 22 thousand specialists lost their jobs, and in healthcare, where over 17 thousand people lost their jobs.
According to the agency, the main reasons for the mass layoffs were the loss of large contracts by companies and unfavorable economic conditions.
