In January 2026, Ashgabat will host competitions in sambo, judo, and combat sambo for boys and girls, which will serve as the first stage of selection for the Turkmenistan national team.

The competition will be held from January 17 to 19 at the gym of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports. Athletes born in 2006-2007-2008 who have passed the preliminary selection are invited to participate.

The State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, along with the National Sambo Federation and the Judo Federation of Turkmenistan, are organizing the competition. The competition is part of the state sports development program and aims to identify talented athletes for participation in national and international tournaments.

Winners and runners-up will have the opportunity to represent Turkmenistan at prestigious international tournaments and championships.

Athletes who have passed the preliminary selection are eligible to participate.
