While the 2025 figures have not yet been finalized, the most significant developments in Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry are already evident, according to the newspaper oilgas.gov.tm.
In 2025, implementation of large-scale international projects continued, including the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline, which is designed not only to supply Turkmen gas to Asian countries but also to become a key factor in strengthening economic partnership, peace, and stability in the region. In this regard, a significant event of the year was the launch of the next stage of the Serhetabat–Herat gas pipeline, known as "Arkadagyň ak ýoly" and part of the TAPI project.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov symbolically launched welding work on the Afghan section, noting that Afghan citizens will also be involved in the project, and its full implementation will create new jobs. Furthermore, annual revenues to Afghanistan will average over 1 billion USD, which will have a positive impact on bilateral relations and the development of the region as a whole.
Throughout the year, work continued on the industrial development of fields on the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea, as well as the world's largest onshore gas field, “Galkynysh”, whose reserves are estimated at 27,4 trillion cubic meters.
A significant achievement for drillers of the “Turkmennebit” State Concern was the commissioning at the beginning of the year of a new well at the “Uzynada” field, 6 830 meters deep, with a daily flow rate of 70 tons of oil condensate and 75 thousand cubic meters of natural gas.
Turkmen geologists continued active work to identify new underground natural resource deposits. Seismic surveys in the country's regions have revealed several promising structures.
Another important event was the opening in July of the third oil loading berth at the Kenar enterprise for the storage and shipment of oil products of the Turkmenbashy oil processing complex of the “Turkmennebit” State Concern.
Mitigation work at the Darvaza gas crater reported a significant reduction in gas supply to the crater in June 2025, supported by both a visual reduction in combustion intensity and independent satellite data from Capterio.
In 2025, the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments into the Economy of Turkmenistan (TEIF 2025) was held, as well as the international conferences QACIS 2025, TESC 2025, and the XXX International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2025." Turkmenistan participated in ADIPEC-2025.
The opening of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) office in Ashgabat is further evidence of the strengthening of international partnerships. In 2025, the company expanded its presence in Turkmenistan by signing a strategic agreement to develop Block 1 in the Caspian Sea jointly with Petronas and state-owned companies.
