France has opened the continent's longest cable car, measuring 4,5 kilometers. The new line connects Paris with four neighboring cities, cutting the average travel time between them in half and carrying over 11 thousand passengers daily.
The cabins are designed to accommodate 8-10 people and arrive at intervals of approximately 22 seconds. Special spaces are provided for bicycles, strollers, and wheelchairs, making the transport accessible to a wide range of citizens. The project, implemented in a dense urban environment, cost the region 132 million euros—significantly less than an alternative metro line, which would have cost over 1 billion euros.
The initiative highlights the growing interest in green and cost-effective forms of public transport in Europe, where traditional metros and trams often face high construction costs.
