Among the series of cultural events taking place in Ashgabat to commemorate the International Year of Peace and Trust, a special place was given to the 75th anniversary of the renowned children's writer Hemra Shirov, winner of the President of Turkmenistan's "Golden Age of the Turkmen" competition and recipient of the "300th Anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi" jubilee medal.
According to the website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, a creative meeting with the beloved writer was recently held at Secondary School No. 51 in Ashgabat.
Hemra Shirov shared a bit of his wisdom with the students, who enthusiastically recited the poet's poems and performed dramatizations based on his works.
The birthday boy himself read his poem-puzzles and tongue twisters to the children, which develop clear speech, and held a question-and-answer session with them. The writer emphasized that by becoming a friend of books, one can comprehend the infinite.
The creative meeting was complemented by an exhibition of books by H. Shirov, organized by the B. Amanov State Children's Library, the source notes.
