The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, agreed to further strengthen their strategic partnership. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan following the Turkmen leader's state visit to Kazakhstan on November 24-25.
"This is my second state visit to Kazakhstan. This is clear confirmation that both sides clearly understand the importance of cooperation and are ready to further strengthen their strategic partnership," said Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as quoted by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
During the talks, the parties agreed on joint measures to expand trade and economic partnerships and strengthen cultural and humanitarian contacts. The leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral issues and exchanged views on current regional and international issues.
"During the talks, particular attention was paid to strengthening global peace, stability, and security. Both countries reaffirmed their firm commitment to resolving all disputes and disagreements based on recognized norms of international law and the UN Charter," the President of Turkmenistan noted.
The parties agreed to continue close cooperation both bilaterally and within international organizations.
Energy has traditionally been a priority area of partnership. Transport and logistics also represent a strategic vector of cooperation. Both sides consider the activation of East-West and North-South transport and transit corridors to be particularly important.
"For Turkmenistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan is a fraternal country, a good neighbor, and a reliable strategic partner. Our countries share a common understanding and deep conviction that comprehensive cooperation benefits our peoples," emphasized Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
At the end of the visit, the head of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the Kazakh side for the work done and addressed wishes of peace and prosperity to the people of Kazakhstan.
