On November 21, Polish pianist Wojciech Waleczek performed a concert in Ashgabat to great acclaim. He performed with the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan under the baton of Rasul Klychev.
The concert, part of European Culture Week, was initiated by the EU Delegation to Ashgabat with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
That evening, Concerto No. 1 by Frédéric Chopin, a prominent representative of the Romantic school of music, was performed to a sold-out crowd.
Wojciech Waleczek began with musical masterpieces by Western European composers: Isaac Albéniz, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Liszt, and Niccolò Paganini, reports "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."

Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1, performed with a symphony orchestra, was a resounding success: the audience applauded loudly, not letting Wojciech Walecek leave the stage.
As an encore, the musician performed Chopin's Nocturne No. 2.
Wojciech Walecek himself described his collaboration with the symphony orchestra musicians as a highly professional experience.
"This was largely thanks to conductor Rasul Klychev, who sensitively captured both my performance and the musicians'," he emphasized.
The musician went on to remark that he really enjoyed the Ashgabat audience.
"I played as if for each listener individually, and in the hall's silence, I sensed a tremendous interest in Chopin's music. Only a prepared audience can perceive music this way," he concluded.
