In November, Malaysia's PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd. (PC(T)SB) held two large-scale environmental campaigns in western Turkmenistan: on November 8, the company's employees and partners planted 101 trees and 743 flowers on the grounds of the Gas Treatment Plant in the village of Kiyanly, and on November 15, together with local residents, schoolchildren, and environmental services, they cleaned up a section of the Caspian Sea coastline.
The events were held within the framework of PETRONAS's corporate Sustainable Development Strategy and became the company's contribution to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On Tree Planting Day, part of the nationwide greening campaign, representatives of the Caspian Environmental Monitoring Service and local residents joined the event. Participants emphasized that every planted tree is an investment in the region's future.

A week later, on November 15, more than a hundred people gathered on the Caspian coast—company employees and their families, students from Kiyanly Secondary School No. 7, and environmentalists. PC(T)SB General Director Ismadi bin Ismail made a special trip from Ashgabat with his family to personally participate in the cleanup. After the cleanup, the children were treated to kite flying and a hot meal, and all participants were given PETRONAS-branded blankets.
Within the framework of these initiatives, earlier this year the company installed five modern waste separation facilities in Kiyanly, handing them over to local authorities.
"We believe that every action today is our harvest tomorrow," PETRONAS representatives noted, summing up the November campaigns.
The company announced its intention to continue its environmental initiatives in Turkmenistan, contributing to the preservation of the Caspian region's unique natural environment and raising the environmental awareness of the local community.
