Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Islam Makhachev will face Australian Jack Della Maddalena, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion, on the night of November 16, Ashgabat time.
The fight will take place as part of UFC 322 in New York City. Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will serve as Makhachev's cornerman.
In Turkmenistan, MMA fans will be able to watch the fight live on the Belet Film online cinema.
Della Maddalena has been unbeaten since 2016. In May of this year, the Australian replaced Kazakhstan's Shavkat Rakhmonov and defeated American Belal Muhammad, taking the championship belt.
Makhachev, 34, has a mixed martial arts record of 27 wins and one loss. The Russian is on a 15-fight winning streak. Makhachev held the UFC lightweight belt from October 2022 to May 2025. On May 14, he vacated the title to move up to the welterweight division.
Della Maddalena has an 18-2 MMA record. The Australian has won all eight of his UFC bouts, putting his mixed martial arts winning streak at 18.
