The 91st meeting of the Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea was held in Turkmenistan. The event was attended by leaders, representatives, and specialists from water management agencies of Central Asian countries.
According to the “Watan” news program, the meeting aimed to address water management issues in the Central Asian region through joint efforts.
The activities of the Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission are aimed at approving annual water use limits for each state from its main water resources, developing and approving operating modes for large reservoirs, and managing the region's water resources taking into account actual water resource volumes.
The commission's main tasks also include the development and implementation of environmental programs related to the drying up of the Aral Sea and the reduction of water resources, as well as determining the annual volumes of water supplied to rivers and the Aral Sea.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the location of the next meeting of the Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission and the corresponding Protocol was signed.
