The large new forested area of Botendag on the eastern shore of Lake Sarykamysh prevents dust migration, prevents desertification, salinization and soil degradation, promotes ecological stability and maintains a clean environment.
The buffer forest zone created here is under constant monitoring by the Dashoguz velayat forestry team, reports Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
Based on recommendations for landscaping developed by scientists, salt-tolerant and soil-stabilizing crops have been planted here over thousands of hectares in recent years.
Scientists from the Turkmen Agricultural Institute in Dashoguz are analyzing the beneficial effects of shade trees grown on the Botendag plateau on climate regulation and environmental improvement, the source notes.
These days, specialists from the Dashoguz velayat Forestry Department are busy harvesting desert plant seeds. The collected seeds of black and white saxaul, cherkez, kandym, and other plants and shrubs will be used, after drying and storing, for future plantings of these crops in the region's desert areas. Some of the seeds will be harvested at the Botendag Upland.
