Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that he doesn't have a mobile phone. He made the announcement at a meeting to finalize the country's Socioeconomic Development Program for 2026-2030. A video clip was published by the Telegram channel "Pul Pervogo."
"I don't have a mobile phone, but I somehow survive," the head of state said. He also urged citizens to rely less on gadgets: "Why are we so worried about these phones anymore? It's better not to carry them with you."
Lukashenko noted the advantages of landline phones over mobile communications. He said landline phones are more secure in terms of information security, as mobile communications are vulnerable to data leaks. Therefore, the president recommended, especially to government officials, not to completely abandon regular landline phones.
