Students from Turkmen universities won 22 medals of various denominations at the International Student Team Olympiad in Mathematics, organized by the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, from November 6 to 10.
In total, Turkmen athletes won 9 gold, 8 silver, and 2 bronze medals in the individual competitions, reports “Turkmenistan: Golden Age.”
Two more silver medals and one bronze medal were won in the team competition.
In addition, Turkmen students received two honorable mention awards following the competition.
The competition brought together over 150 talented mathematicians from leading universities in Poland, the UK, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, and Turkmenistan.
Participants were presented with challenging problems in such areas of the discipline as mathematical analysis (including topology and set theory), functional equations (including differential equations), algebra and combinatorics, geometry and linear algebra, and probability theory.
